Work Adventure
Work Adventure is our virtual world for exploring Creative Presentation posters and gathering informally with other attendees. It's a place to wander, see what's on display, and have small, casual conversations — including in the Care Fair and Special Interest Group areas. (Note: live Care Fair (Friday) and Special Interest Group (Thursday) sessions are held over Zoom this year — see the program in ConfTool.)
Work Adventure will be open throughout the entire conference — pop in any time. We encourage you to explore the virtual world, view the posters on display, and make plans to meet up with other attendees for a virtual coffee, meal, game, or casual conversation.
Volunteers will be available to guide attendees and answer questions — stop by the help icon when you spawn in Work Adventure!
The link to our Work Adventure world will be shared in the Conference Agenda in ConfTool.
Accessing and Engaging in Work Adventure
Accessing
For participation in the virtual world, you only need your internet browser — no dependencies or additional installations needed.
You may be prompted by your browser to turn "on" your video and audio — be sure to click "Allow" when prompted.
Please note: Work Adventure takes longer to load the first time you join. Give the site a minute or two; if it still fails to load, email us at conference@ach.org so we can help troubleshoot.
Orientation
When you log in, your avatar will appear at the City spawn point, in the center of the world in the section marked ACH26. Conference volunteers will be located at the help icon to help you navigate the map or answer questions.
From the spawn point, follow the walkways to other parts of the map:
- Creative Presentation posters in the Caravan Camp
- The Care Fair on the Festival Grounds
- Special Interest Group and networking space on the Urban Farm
- Quiet space on the Beach
- Games in the city's Solarpunk Arcade
Follow the arrows to get where you want to go — each includes text to help with wayfinding.
To interact with others, simply walk near them. A bubble will appear connecting you. For group conversations, the bubble expands to include everyone in the area. Note that screen sharing is not available within bubbles. You can also create a chat room for a specific meeting or session to communicate with anyone in the virtual space.
Creative Presentation posters
Creative Presentation posters are hosted along the top-left and center edge of the map, in the Caravan Camp. Each poster has its own wagon: walk up to one of the cart's sides to activate the digital presentation, which is accessible at a weblink. Each wagon is labeled with its assigned presentation.
The Care Fair
The ACH 2026 Care Fair focuses on advocacy and care for each other in difficult times. We've created a space in Work Adventure to come together informally in support of one another and our local communities.
The Care Fair is on the Festival Grounds, marked by balloons and picnic tables on the right-middle side of the map. The picnic tables are open spots for small, informal conversations — drop by to connect with others around advocacy, mutual support, and community care. Approach a table to join in.
Live Care Fair sessions take place over Zoom on Friday — see the program in ConfTool.
Special Interest Groups
The Urban Farm, located beneath the Festival Grounds in the bottom-middle of the map, is a networking and social space — each farm plot is a separate spot for gathering and small conversations. Gather your crew and cultivate your ideas!
Live Special Interest Group sessions take place over Zoom on Thursday — see the program in ConfTool.
The Beach
If you need a moment of quiet, step onto the Beach in the lower-left corner of the map. Sit on one of the park benches for a short meditative or reflective break — using movement, meditation, poetry, or a nature sound mixer. Walk up to a bench to activate it; each bench has a unique exercise.
The Solarpunk Arcade
Looking for casual social connections? Head to the Solarpunk Arcade in the top-right corner of the map. A variety of single- and multiplayer games can be accessed by approaching the arcade machines — multiplayer games along the top, single-player games on the side.
Social Interactions
When you join Work Adventure, you may be prompted to turn "on" your video and audio — click "Allow" when prompted. If you don't want to engage when someone approaches, you can opt to leave your camera and mic off.
If you feel uncomfortable or experience anything harmful, you can block that person from communicating with you by clicking on their avatar (you can rescind the block at any time). If you experience a Code of Conduct violation, please let a Work Adventure volunteer know (at the help icon in the central spawn area) and email the conference committee at conference@ach.org.
